Thereafter, the teams took on the 4×4 Jamboree’s gymkhana, which is located directly across the road from the vast Rust de Winter campsite, and features an astonishing array of points-scoring and very challenging 4×4 tests.Įach competitor had to complete 10 challenges laid out for the competition, which ranged from a rally-style time-trial through the forest to tight and technical driving sections.

The competitive element on the mountain trail took place at a series of marshal points where competitors had to complete a wide range of ‘Minute To Win It’ tasks, searching for and identifying various objects in the bush and answering Trivial Pursuit questions.

This made it tough going on the crews, as they had to complete an arduous six-hour, 55 km mountain route dominated by treacherous rocky ascents and descents, along with a full complement of tasks in the gymkhana section.
Fitment partner Tiger Wheel & Tyre joined the team with a Fortuner running on the superb General Grabber AT, along with a Mitsubishi Colt using the Velocity Raptor AT that is manufactured for the tyre retailer by CTSA.Īlthough Rust de Winter traditionally takes place over a long weekend, this year the competition was compressed into a single day. The General Grabber MT was officially launched to the public at the 2013 Toyota Rust de Winter 4×4 Jamboree in Limpopo during the past weekend, and certainly proved the class of the field on a very challenging 4×4 mountain trail and technical obstacle course.
